Thanksgiving is right around the corner and this week gave us a bit of time to catch our breathe and look back at the fall.

Fall Operations

I don't think I am out of line by saying that this may have been the most productive fall up to Thanksgiving in recent memory. Things have been in constant motion around Herbers Seed since the early part of the fall. Our operations crew and custom applicators have covered a tremendous amount of ground applying fertilizer the past several weeks. The lengthy application window we just had this fall will help lighten the workload in the coming spring. The picture below is from John Klocke as they finished up with dual placement on Monday.

Agronomy Updates

Over the winter I will be covering several topics around agronomy and crop production in subsequent newsletters. While there isn't an actively growing crop to discuss, we will be providing information about certain agronomic topics. Topics can include but won't be limited to nutrient cycling and soil fertility, crop growth and physiology, and product updates. Several topics will be directed related to observations that I noticed in fields this past year. Every year provides different opportunities to learn from.
